Kep Road Trip

Chat and I are collaborating on an exhibition that will take place some time this century. It's a look back at kep and it's inhabitants. More specifically the houses that they used to live in and the pulse of the town back in the 60's. There's four of us on this road trip, Jeff, Amy and Chat. Below are a few pics.

Our first stop out of Phnom Penh. Kompong Trach.
Stop number 2

Lunch in Kep. My lunch anyhow since I'm allergic to crab.
The rest of the gang's lunch.

Amy writing her ransom letter

Chat speaking to a past resident of Kep. That's him on the far right.

The Nunnery. Exterior shot.
The old shower house just off the beach. Now converted into a place that serves crap.

The old governor's mansion. Restored of course.

The owner of El Dorado Restaurant. Joe is damn photogenic.

Love that shirt. Click for a bigger image.
One of my favorite houses in Kep. Owned by a frog. The caretaker is the guy below this pic..

Roadkill.
Pedestrian rope bridge absolutely demolished by the Kampot river.
tiger Beer, Hawaiian shirt and rice fields.

Since there's not much electricity in Kep they've resorted to hanging monks on the electric poles. Their bright saffron robes reflect light where it's needed. It's about an 8 hour workday.
On of the cleanest houses I've ever seen anywhere in Cambodia.

This was shot at about 10 at night. A sleeping cow was used in place of a tripod.
Nightshot of the beach.
Nightshot of the old pier.
Check out that perfect circle created by the fishing net.
Anything over a kilo and they die you.

Ream National Park

Here's the midway point back into Phnom Penh. Pech Nil.

End of the road.

Kirirom

Had a free day and decided to head up to Kirirom again. This time It's Jeff, Amy and myself.

Big ass bug with about a trillion legs

Lunch
Housing development outside of the Kirirom.

A bite from a leech like thing. That drop of blood was where his mouth was. I didn't feel a thing until I decided to look down at my shoes and saw a bloody sock. Removing the sock revealed this vile disgusting abomination of a creature that should be banished to the depths of hell for all eternity. Watch your ankles in the woods. Sick.
